PRIDE DA POLSO

WATCH | APPLE + NIKE

Pride on wrist – With the approach of the various Pride Weeks around the world, here is Apple and Nike in a joint venture to launch the new Apple Watch 2021 Pride Edition loops. In short, two industry giants participate (in their own way and on a global scale) in the battles that have characterized the LGBTQI + community for decades.

Available in 12 different lengths, it incorporates the original colors of the rainbow along with those drawn from various Pride flags. The strap is combined with access to a dynamic dial, which mirrors that same palette and displays its threads flowing in an infinite animation when the digital crown of the watch is rotated.

It has already been available for order for a few weeks via the Apple website but arrives in the Apple Stores today, May 25th.

NATURA IN TRASFERTA

LANDSCAPE | HOLLAND TULIPS

Nature on the move – There is no more artificial entity than botanical matter, as the Baroque garden has told us for centuries. With postmodernity, the plant world finds interesting interpretations not only in landscape design, but also in architecture and design at all scales.

Whether it is crops or ornamental solutions, plants shape the territory. In Holland, through the cultivation of tulips, amazing giga-patterns are created in which geoetry and color blend indissolubly.

The latter tradition is also exported. An example is the Holland Flower Park in Yancheng, China, a Dutch-style theme park with multicolored carpets of blooming tulips and even some windmills, for a philological touch.

This large area, marked surrounded by rivers and canals – just like in the Netherlands – hosts the Qingming Festival, the three days of celebration after the vernal equinox traditionally dedicated to the commemoration of ancestors.

COME UN LEGO

URBANISM | KIEV

Like e Lego – It is well known that the urban planning of Eastern countries has always expressed itself with decisive brutality both in environmental and settlement terms. Even the post-Soviet residential realizations follow the gigantist trend that has informed the suburbs of entire generations.

In the case of Comfort Town, a recently completed mega-district located on the eastern outskirts of Kiev, these aspects are even sublimated. The architectural quality stands at decidedly high levels and great care is taken in the design of the interstitial open spaces. The theme of the hypertrophic volume is amplified by altimetric and chromatic variations, through the use of bright and saturated colors. But that’s not enough. The Future Architects studio has established a coloration of the roofs equal to that of the underlying facades, so as to have visually compact volumes… which affect the views from the satellite, the plane or the drone.

CUBISMO MESSICANO

ARCHITECTURE | ULISSES DE LLANO

Mexican Cubism – Although it is a digital simulation, Ulisses de Llano’s project for a hotel has a great expressive power, where volumes and color intersect inextricably.

The Hotel Vi is located (in the architect’s imagination) in Los Cabos San Lucas Baja, at the extreme southern cape of California, between Mexico (home of de Llano) and the Pacific Ocean.

The building was born from the aggregation of angular volumes, in a dramatic interpenetration between full and empty, but also in a chiaroscuro game that only the tropical sun can enhance.

For the external plaster cladding, the designer uses a one-color solution: a pink violet, that is a super-vitamin pink with a purple hue. In this case the influence of Barragàn is evident, but in this case there is no metaphysical delicacy. The only chromatic counterpoint, the green of the cactus.
