Chris Daniels è un giovane artista britannico impegnato nella sfera dell’astrattismo geometrico. Le sue forme sono pulite, minimali, ridotte, originate non dal movimento o dal gesto, ma da un’idea armonica. Attraverso un rigoroso processo di semplificazione (accompagnato dalla ripetizione) queste forme diventano ambigue e astratte.

All’interno di un geometrismo particolarmente schematico, la ricerca cromatica costituisce il tratto distintivo dei suoi acrilici su tela (spesso lasciata grezza).

La nostra attenzione su Daniels si è accentuata dal 2020, quando ha introdotto nella propria produzione delle sequenze in strisce in gradazione cromatica (“Machbands”), talvolta adottando anche tagli e sfalsamenti. Queste soluzioni di dégradé ricordano tanto le armonie ottenute con il Sistema Cromatico NCS…

Certi effetti sono spesso affidate ai toni del grigio, anche se le altre soluzioni più cromatiche appaiono particolarmente virtuose.

Within a particularly schematic geometry, chromatic research constitutes the distinctive feature of his acrylics on canvas (often left raw).

Our attention to Daniels has been accentuated since 2020, when he introduced sequences in strips in chromatic gradation (“Machbands”) into his production, sometimes also adopting cuts and offsets. These dégradé solutions are so reminiscent of the harmonies obtained with the NCS Chromatic System…
