ART | OTTO PIENE

I moduli espressivi di Otto Piene, artista tedesco naturalizzato statunitense, è abbastanza multiforme, ma la sua ricerca si incardina nel filone cinetico. Piene crea opere sia su tela sia site specific, combinando luce, fuoco e movimento, combinando l’arte d’avanguardia con la tecnologia più recente. Esse posseggono un carattere universale, il cui significato viene stabilito dagli stessi spettatori attraverso emozioni ed esperienze.

Nell’installazione Langen Stars (“Le stelle lunghe”), ospitata dal National Museum di Breslavia e conclusasi lo scorso giugno, l’artista ha creato un mondo basato sull’empatia e sull’uguaglianza attraverso il movimento e il colore.

Le sculture si gonfiano e si sgonfiano, si alzano e crollano, muovendosi in un ritmo ipnotizzante. Danno l’impressione di creature quasi viventi che attirano il visitatore, favorendo l’interazione.

Breathing stars – The expressive modules of Otto Piene, a German naturalized American artist, are quite multifaceted, but his research hinges on the kinetic vein. Piene creates works both on canvas and site specific, combining light, fire and movement, combining avant-garde art with the latest technology. They possess a universal character, the meaning of which is established by the spectators themselves through emotions and experiences.

In the installation Langen Stars (“The long stars”), hosted by the National Museum of Wroclaw and concluded last June, the artist has created a world based on empathy and equality through movement and colour.

The sculptures inflate and deflate, rise and fall, moving in a mesmerizing rhythm. They give the impression of almost living creatures that attract the visitor, encouraging interaction.
