La Fengpu Elementary School si trova sul lato ovest della Fengxian New City, un sobborgo di Shanghai.
Il complesso architettonico si presenta come un aggregato di volumi regolari ma incoerenti, con una forte contrapposizione tra interno (la corte con distribuzione a ballatoio) ed esterno, ovvero gli affacci frastagliati su un contesto morfologicamente debole.
Le facciate sono ripartite in rettangoli di larghezza variabile tinteggiati con differenti tonalità nel range beige-terracotta-bordeaux.
Questa soluzione crea una nuova identità per la nuova area urbana in trasformazione. Da un lato, riconduce a unità un manufatto architettonico assai disarticolato, in cui interno ed esterno intrattengono una relazione complessa. Dall’altro, impone visivamente l’organismo nei confronti di un paesaggio rarefatto, disgregato e privo di emergenze di pregio.
At identity school – Fengpu Elementary School is located on the west side of Fengxian New City, a suburb of Shanghai.
The architectural complex presents itself as an aggregate of regular but inconsistent volumes, with a strong contrast between the interior (the courtyard with a gallery distribution) and the exterior, i.e. the jagged views on a morphologically weak context.
The facades are divided into rectangles of variable width painted with different shades in the beige-terracotta-burgundy range.
This solution creates a new identity for the new urban area in transformation. On the one hand, it brings unity to a very disjointed architectural artefact, in which interior and exterior maintain a complex relationship. On the other hand, it visually imposes the organism on a rarefied, disintegrated landscape devoid of valuable emergencies.
