INTERIOR | Anna & Eugeni Bach

Il progetto di Anna & Eugeni Bach ristruttura l’ex auditorium del Centro Nacional de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS) di Madrid, trasformandolo in uno spazio specializzato per formati audiovisivi. L’intervento ha riguardato la riprogettazione dell’ingresso e della platea, il miglioramento dell’acustica e l’installazione di un nuovo sistema audio e video. La ristrutturazione rispetta gli elementi iconici del progetto originale, redatto nel 1987 dal padre dei due architetti, come la sala di proiezione triangolare e il triangolo sospeso sopra il palco, che ora funge da schermo acustico.
Il sapore postmoderno della preesistenza viene ampiamente rispettato e valorizzato. Il progetto rafforza l’idea con l’azzurro del cielo notturno nel soffitto a volta. Il classico rosso cinematografico, lievemente aranciato, utilizzato per le sedute e i tessuti, riporta alla mente le atmosfere dei film di David Lynch e le ambientazioni di Pedro Almodovar.

Cinematic atmosphere – The project by Anna & Eugeni Bach renovates the former auditorium of the Reina Sofia National Art Center (MNCARS) in Madrid, transforming it into a specialized space for audiovisual formats. The project included redesigning the entrance and stalls, improving the acoustics, and installing a new audiovisual system. The renovation respects the iconic elements of the original design, drafted in 1987 by the architects’ father, such as the triangular screening room and the suspended triangle above the stage, which now serves as an acoustic screen.
The postmodern feel of the existing building is fully respected and enhanced. The project reinforces this idea with the blue of the night sky in the vaulted ceiling. The classic cinematic red, with a slight orange hue, used for the seats and fabrics, evokes the atmospheres of David Lynch’s films and the settings of Pedro Almodóvar.
