Chat Architects presenta il progetto Angsila Oyster Scaffolding Pavilion, nei pressi dell’omonimo e storico villaggio di pescatori in Thailandia, prototipo di una nuova infrastruttura ecoturistica per l’ostricoltura, mirata a rivitalizzare l’industria ittica locale. Esso è gestito da pescatori locali e funge da piattaforma unica dove piccoli gruppi di visitatori di Angsila possono raccogliere a mano le ostriche direttamente dall’oceano sottostante e degustarle al momento.
Il design del padiglione adatta e reinterpreta in modo creativo e sostenibile le tradizionali impalcature di bambù comunemente impiegate nel settore. Un telo agricolo rosso acceso, che si abbina alle acque verdastre della baia, offre ai visitatori un’ombra che filtra la luce del sole e i riflessi dell’oceano, pur consentendo il passaggio delle rinfrescanti brezze oceaniche. La piattaforma appare un po’ come un’istallazione artistica e un po’ come un luogo accogliente e da condividere.

The oysters temple – Chat Architects presents the Angsila Oyster Scaffolding Pavilion, near the historic fishing village of the same name in Thailand. It is a prototype for a new ecotourism infrastructure for oyster farming, aimed at revitalizing the local fishing industry. Operated by local fishermen, it serves as a unique platform where small groups of Angsila visitors can hand-pick oysters directly from the ocean below and enjoy them on the spot.
The pavilion’s design creatively and sustainably adapts and reinterprets the traditional bamboo scaffolding commonly used in the industry. A bright red agricultural canvas, matching the greenish waters of the bay, provides visitors with shade that filters sunlight and ocean reflections while still allowing refreshing ocean breezes to pass through. The platform feels both like an art installation and a welcoming, shared space.
